.: Review - ARTPOP Part 2 :.

Okay let's get started right away, I'm not even going to bother refreshing your memory of what this is about since the previous post is right underneath this one.

6.) MANiCURE - (Heal me 'CAUSE I'm ADDICTED TO LOVE. Save me 'CAUSE I'm ADDICTED TO LOVE! Manicure!) Before I actually heard this song I was feeling skeptical of this song because I was thinking it would be one of those songs that would not be catchy to me much like the later songs from "Born This Way". But I was proven wrong when I heard her sing at the ITunes music festival. The version on the CD is actually different from the one she sang live, for some reason she decided to change the lyrics a bit and even if I prefer the original version this one is still my favourites. What I really admire about this song is that you can really feel the mood of this song as well as her tone of voice. It sounds scratchy and very rock (Is that a word? I'm still going to use it.)

7.) Do What You Want ft. R. Kelly - (So do what you want, what you want with my body. Do what you want, don't stop, let's party!) This is the second single for Gaga and at the moment everyone is raving about it. Many critics praising this R&B song as very 80's vibe and it's true I really do love the 80's throwback vibe I get when I listen to this. This song is about the entertainment industry and paparazzi that has been attacking Gaga in hurtful ways. She's basically trying to counter that by being not affected at all by any of the bad press which makes me like the song even more knowing the message it comes with.

8.) ARTPOP - (We could, we could, we could belong together ARTPOP ARTPOP ARTPOOOOOP) When Gaga first sang this live for the first time at the itunes festival I didn't like it one bit. I thought it was too hippie and annoying for my own liking. But I was proven wrong once I listened to it again, it is actually quite catchy, that damn Gaga.

The cd booklet

9.) Swine - (I know I know I know I know you want me, you're just a pig inside a human body) So this is one of the songs that I could connect and engage with the more I listened to it. This song is basically about how the public and paparazzi always comment on her body and her weight. She feels like she is just an item and that she is just an ugly pig on the inside which isn't right. When you think about it, it's true, celebrities are always being haggered for being overly fat or too skinny by the magizines they can never catch a break. I actually think this song and "Do What You Want" are quite similar in terms of the message it displays to the audience. Also this is a very catchy song because of the dubstep that Gaga experiments with here.

10.) Donatella - (I am so fab... I'm blonde... I'm skinny... and I'm a little bit of a bitch...) I am IN LOVE with this song. This song was actually written for Donatella Versace because the two became really good friends with each other, I think at one point Donatella even said that Gaga was her muse. Anyways back to the song, the song to me sounds kind of silly and more of a fun song rather than a serious song that carries any actual message. Gaga sings about the urge and strife to be skinny so that she would be able to wear the clothes and walk catwalks down the walkway.

11.) Fashion! - (FASHION! looking good and feeling fine, looking good and feeling fine) This song is not the same Fashion song that Gaga did a while back this one is different, this one has an exclamation mark! Fashion! might sound similar to a Will.I.Am song to some people and that's because he helped produce the song. This song, like many of Gaga's other variations of Fashion is basically just an ode to fashion and further elevate Gaga's love for weird fashion and just fashion in general.

12.) Mary Jane Holland - (I think that I could be fine, if I could meet Mary Jane Holland tonight.) Honestly I don't like this song, actually you can say I hate this song. This song is about weed and her love for weed and stuff. I don't exactly know what this song is about I have no love for this song and have no care for this song. This was the other song that I never got into and never will. Even from the start I never liked it. When she released the preview teaser for it I hated it and I still do.

the tracklist
13.) Dope - (My heart would break without you, might not awake without you. Been hurting low, from living high for so long) Okay so at first I hated this song, but then after a few more listens I slowly eased into it and now this is one of my favourites from the album. I can really hear and feel the pain Gaga is in when she has the dilemma in having to choose between weed or her lover. In the end she chooses the lover because "she needs him more than dope". It is a powerful song in which it shows how much she values her relationship with that lover more than the drug she is addicted to and how she is willing to give that up for love.

14.) Gypsy - (THE WHOLE SONG) Hands down the best song in the whole album, I'm surprised this song isn't my top played song on my ipod yet (that record is currently held by Ms. Miley Cyrus) This song builds the connection between her and her little monsters and which she explains to us that she is essentially a gypsy and travels the world in order to meet and greet each and everyone of us. I just can't, this song is my life and I just love it so much.

15.) Applause - (I live for the applause applause applause I live for the applause plause plause // A-R-T-P-O-P) This is the last song in the album in which Gaga felt that her audience deserves a song that concludes this master piece of an album. I don't have much to say about this song other than the fact that it is one of my favourite songs but just not the top three maybe the top five.

So basically in conclusion, this album is to me one of the best albums that have debuted in 2013. Like many critics have said about this album, some people might find her boring already with her antics and have moved on. But at the end of the day her album is a gift for her fans, the little monsters are the real target audience she is trying to reach and she said so herself she does not care if she is not number one on the charts with this album she just wants to make music her fans would like. At this moment Gaga can make any shitty album and still be able to have full support from her loyal fans my self included. I honestly do recommend buying this album either physically or digitally because I do believe in supporting the artists that I like. But if you are not a big fan of Gaga herself to start off with then i suggest you just torrent it and see if you like it as a taste test. Who knows, maybe you will end up liking at least one or two songs from this album. Music is pretty subjective so don't let one review steer you into buying or not buying this.

the back of the cd
4.8/5 is what I would give to this album.

.: Delay :.

So sorry guys but this week is final weeks at college and I most likely won't be able to post anything for a while because I am just so swamped and stressed out with work and school... I will try my best in posting at least the second part of the review I was in the middle of by the end of this week. (Sunday) But trust me once my finals are over (Next Friday) I will post like crazy! A lot of things are happening in my life right now such as tests and renovation of my room. To be honest I haven't even actually communicated with my parents for such a long time... I do finals at 8am and right after I head straight to work and then after work I babysit until 12am... on one hand I am so excited to actually have that many plans made in my life because sometimes I do feel like my planner is empty and boring, but it is also so tiring as well. Anywho I'm going to stop yammering because this is getting so personal hehe. See you guys!

.: Review - ARTPOP Part 1 :.

Okay so I might be a bit late (like what 2 weeks after the release of this CD...) but I wanted to do a review of this for a very long time. Before I even rebooted this blog I knew I had to write a review for this CD. Lady Gaga's "Artpop" was released on November 11th, 2013 and I made one of my closest friend come with me on this wild goose chase just so I could get it on the release date (there is not difference between getting it later but I just wanted it) It took us 3 tries before we finally found the CD, we went to Best Buy first to try to find it but apparently since it was "Remembrance Day" they didn't get their stock or shipment yet. So then we went to Futureshop, which to our surprise not really also didn't have the shipment Best Buy = Futureshop. We then sky-trained all the way to Downtown Robsen to the only HMV closest to us to get this baby. Also this review might actually run longer than my normal/ future posts because I will go super in-depth with everything song from this album, which is why I decided to split it up into two parts.

The inside of the CD once you open it up.
So let's give a quick overview of this CD to the people who are unfamiliar with Lady Gaga's newest creation. Right after the fairly successful second CD (Born This Way), Gaga quickly went to work writing new songs for this album. She said in an interview that she basically wrote all the songs while on the "Born This Way" world tour. She was actually almost done this album and was about to release it in early 2013 when suddenly she needed hip surgery due to her injured hip while on tour. This resulted in her cancellation of the other half of the tour as well as the release of the album. (mainly the North American leg of the tour, thank god she broke her hip AFTER she came to Vancouver because I would have been devastated)  While she was recovering from the hip surgery, she decided to go back into the studio and go through each and every song carefully and make sure that every song is "perfect". She cut some of the songs from this album because she didn't feel like it suited the theme. (TEA, Princess Die, Burqa, Ratchet.. etc)

I personally really like most of the songs and below I will write the most memorable line from each song in brackets as well as what I thought about the song as a whole:

I love how Gaga puts lyrics in the album booklet unlike some other artists.
1.) Aura - (I killed my former and left her in the trunk of highway 10) Gaga did state that one of the songs from here would be a continuation of her super successful single 'Telephone" and just from that beginning line I feel like this would be the song. I first heard this song on Tumblr (as a leak) and I instantly fell in love with the chorus as well as the beginning, the beat is just so addictive to listen to over and over again. Aura is one of my favourites from this album for sure.

2.) Venus - (Uranus... DON'T YOU KNOW MY ASS IS FAMOUS?!) This song was suppose to be the second single but then "Do What You Want" took its place because it garnered a lot of praises and attention from fans and critics. I actually felt like this song presents a bit of comic relief from some of the more depressing and darker songs in this album. [Especially when she was reciting the planets in the solar system and joking about her infamous ass]. Honestly the chorus for this song is every bit as addictive as Aura's so how can I not like it?

3.) G.U.Y. [Girl Under You] - (Touch me, touch me, please be sweet. Love me, love me, please retweet) Okay so you know how in every album there is just a couple of songs that don't get you as interested as the other songs? Well this and another song from this album are it, this song has many fans in love but for some reason im not that interested in this song at all...

4.) Sexxx Dreams - (When I lay in bed I touch myself and think of you) Personally I felt like this song has some very boring parts but the chorus gets me everytime. I get so excited everytime just waiting for that one line. Even though I don't really like most parts of this song I must admit that it is rather catchy and I often end up singing to the song in my car.

5.) Jewels N' Drugs - (Slap honey on your pancake) Okay this song is one of the songs that has the most people featured. (Twista, T.I., Too $hort) This is a very different genre that Gaga is trying out for the first time. She provides the catchy, hypnotic female singing parts while the rest of the other artists featured in this song take turns rapping. I absolutely love this song to death, I actaully have a secret obsession and that is that I love rap music. I love me some Iggy, Nicki, even Azealia. So when I first heard this song during her ITunes music festival I instantly fell in love. The hook and the beat is just incredible. Critics say she isn't bringing anything new to the rap genre with this song, but I personally don't care if it doesn't. Not all of her songs have to be a reinvention of the genre, she can just expand on it. (It's not like Rihanna being featured in many rap songs is bringing anything new either...)

Okay I have to end the review here but don't worry part two of this review will be posted next friday!
